About the P.S./I.S. 87 Parent Association

Our Story

The P.S./I.S. 87 Parent Association exists to strengthen the partnership between families, school staff, and the community in support of every student's success. As the official parent organization for P.S./I.S. 87 in Middle Village, we provide opportunities for parents and guardians to become active participants in their children's education while supporting programs, events, fundraising initiatives, and activities that enrich the school experience.

Our Parent Association is built on the belief that when families, educators, and the community work together, students thrive. Through volunteerism, leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, we strive to create a welcoming environment where every family has a voice and every child has the opportunity to succeed.

Whether organizing family events, celebrating our teachers and staff, supporting student enrichment, or partnering with local businesses and community organizations, the Parent Association is committed to strengthening our school community and creating meaningful opportunities for all students.

The mission of the P.S./I.S. 87 Middle Village Parent Association is to foster a strong partnership between families, school staff, and the community to support student success, encourage family engagement, and enhance the educational experience of every child.

Goals

The Parent Association is committed to serving the P.S./I.S. 87 community by:

Encouraging meaningful parent and family involvement throughout the school year.
Supporting educational programs, student enrichment activities, and school initiatives.
Organizing events that strengthen school spirit and build community.
Raising funds to help provide resources and opportunities that benefit students.
Building partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and community leaders.
Promoting transparency, accountability, and open communication with all families.
Creating an inclusive environment where every parent and guardian has the opportunity to participate and make a difference.

Together, these goals help create a welcoming school community where students, families, teachers, and staff can learn, grow, and succeed together.
